Playbook is RIM’s newly-announced, magazine-sized tablet PC. The company’s been known more for work than play to date, but that wouldn’t make for such a good product name. Working models have
not yet been spotted in the wild but some properly iPad-beating features are promised.
This new iPad is aimed as much at socialising and fun as it is at business. The Playbook will run all existing BlackBerry apps and also utilise a brand newtablet OS. You can sync the Playbook with your existing BlackBerry handset to play files stored on it on the Playbook’s seven-inch screen. There’s also HDMI for playing HD videos on yourTV.
For surfing the web, the Playbook is supported with Adobe Flash 10.1, Mobile AIR and HTML5, meaning you’ll be able to play all content on the web. The weight is 75% lighter compared to iPad, making it lighter to carry away.
The two video camera features, a fivemegapixel cam on the back and a three-meg front-facing enable to carry out video conferencing. The Playbook retain the usual BlackBerry stengths with push email, web browsing and networking all made easy. Finally, both 3G and 4G versions are also mooted…
